THE LAMB OF GOD
Who would think a little child would become incarnate God? Barefoot little Jewish boy playing in the sod.
Who could know this innocent lad would grow to become the Lamb to take away the sin of the world out of love of God for man?
Why does God seem to always choose the commonplace and lowly? Why does He choose the things despised, the weak and less than holy?
Why did He choose a barn for His birth instead of a castle for kings? Why did He choose a cross and a tomb instead of more noble things?
Perhaps to show us a better way than a life to pridefully boast in all we become, possess, and are, then fight over who has the most.
Perhaps to hide the glorious light from those who would blow it out, and reveal it through a little child who would rather trust than doubt.
Perhaps to expose our need for grace when a god of this world we choose to fill the emptiness inside and gain what we only will lose.
Perhaps He chose a greater gift to replace our blindness with sight, so we’d recognize the Lamb of God as the way to eternal Light.
God’s Lamb
Isaiah 53:5,6
But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.
We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.
