Unchanging GOD
SNOW blankets Spokane, making sidewalks and sideroads somewhat perilous. One slip at my age could cause life-changing damage. I think twice about venturing out on my walks these days, and for good reason. However, other perils even more serious than falling on iced cement or sliding into another vehicle, grip our nation with global repercussions. Paul tells Timothy, “This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come” (ITi 3:1).
Four days after the election, news networks proclaimed Biden and Harris winners of the presidential election despite uncounted votes and pending legal battles involving possible polling fraud. Their apparent win sounds like the end of America as we know it and the beginning of socialistic globalism that sets the stage for the prophesied one-world ruler.
“For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work, but the one now restraining will do so until he is taken out of the way” (2Th 2:7). The age of grace ends when the day of the Lord comes like a thief in the night. “While people are saying, ‘Peace and safety,’ destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape. But you, brothers and sisters, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief” (1Th 5:2-4).
Until then, He calls His blood-bought children to shine like the stars in the universe with the message of salvation. The corrupt city of Corinth gave believers “a unique opportunity to display to the Roman world, the transforming power of Jesus Christ” (1Cor Intro NSB).
We also live in a time of opportunity to shine His light in this dark place. The darkness hates the light because it exposes evil. Will we cave to deception and pressure to conform? Will we hide our light under that proverbial bushel basket? “When the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth?” (Luk 18:8).
What sweet comfort that God remains the same no matter what happens in America or worldwide. Our family experienced many seemingly perilous changes over time, and in 1996, God placed this message in my heart to strengthen me then and now:
What changes wrought my soul to save? None other than the blood You gave. Lord Jesus Christ, my all in all, What changes now to me, You call?
Yet I embrace the Word of Truth, Which is a Rock mid shifting sand, A fortress holding sure, secure, The Rock on which I stand.
Change, you metamorphose of my soul, Trans-shape, remold, restyle my sphere. You’re but a tool of Him who waits For Time to render clear.
Yet, in all your reeling force, Your ripping talons and treacherous course, Never will your gripping hand Lay hold of Him on whom I stand.
What changes sanctify my soul? It’s still Your blood that makes me whole, Vicarious sacrifice of love, Secure amid the changes.
Unchanging is Your holy name, Yesterday, today, the same. Forever will Your name remain Unchanging.
Yes, in these perilous times, God remains unchanging, always able to keep us from falling and presenting us faultless before His glorious presence with exceeding joy! (see Jude 24). Therefore, let us be anxious for nothing and fix our eyes on Jesus. Soon He comes to receive us to Himself into a dimension far beyond this broken temporal realm! Even so, come Lord Jesus!

thankyou for words of encouragement. God is stable in a unstable world. Our foundation is strong and will not crumble.
